BetaLED Lowers Energy Consumption at TJ Maxx
The TJ Maxx Shopping Plaza in Manchester, NH recently retrofitted their existing HID area lights with BetaLED EDGE area luminaires. Under the guidance of Cass Thurston of CBT Development Consultants, twenty-five BetaLED fixtures replaced (28) High Pressure Sodium and (6) Metal Halide fixtures which had cost the owners approximately $40,000 in maintenance over the past four years, including bulb and ballast replacements.
The Beta luminaires supplied feature Type III optics, 120 LEDs and optional integrated occupancy sensors. These two-level occupancy sensors lower light levels when the parking lot is unoccupied, and raise the light levels when occupied. The owners estimate that this technology will cut energy costs by 58 percent compared to the previously installed HID fixtures. Total maintenance and energy cost savings are projected to be over $15,000 per year, with an anticipated three year payback.
